MOMMYSOX™ NOW AVAILABLE FOR MOTHERS-TO-BE
First sock designed to provide relief for pregnant and post-partum women

(Illinois. March 22, 2005) – MommySox™, the first sock designed specifically to relieve nagging foot pain in pregnant and post-partum women in mind, is now available at www.mommysox.com.

“One of the most common complaints of pregnant women is foot pain,” said Mark Leonard, president and founder of MommySox™. “Our approach to manufacturing has allowed us to design a sock to relieve common foot problems associated with the normal, healthy weight gain and water retention during and after pregnancy.”

According to the Center for Disease Control, this year more than 4 million births are expected in the United States as women are having more children than at any other time in almost 30 years. Studies show that a woman’s foot can grow anywhere from one-half size to a full size during and after pregnancy.

“Pregnancy triggers many different changes in a woman’s body,” said Dr. Robert J. Zombolo, DPM (Doctor of Podiatric Medicine). “One problem that is often overlooked is the resulting foot pain. Two of the most common foot problems experienced by pregnant women are lower extremity edema [water retention] as well as heel and arch pain due to a change in foot structure.”

The team at MommySox™ worked with podiatrists, prenatal educators and pregnant women to achieve an optimal design. MommySox™ feature cushioned zones on the heels and balls of the feet that spread with every step to create a “massaging” action, and an arch support band that wraps the foot to dissipate pressure. MommySox™ are made of Comfortel™, a unique polyester-based weave that wicks away moisture, keeping the feet 70 percent drier than cotton socks.

“We at MommySox are dedicated to ‘babying’ every new mother’s feet,” Leonard said. “Our initial research demonstrated overwhelmingly that pregnant and post-partum women will recognize the value and benefit of Mommysox.” A father of three, Leonard said the company has plans to introduce a new version of its flagship MommySox™ product with a “no slip” tread on the bottom. In addition, the company plans a steady roll-out of the new designs and products, including specialty socks, slippers and foot massage lotions, among other offerings.
